Moana Home Ownership
"Empowering Māori & Pasifika Into Their Own Homes"
Established in 2021, Moana Home Ownership (MHO) is a social enterprise that provides financial literacy education geared towards empowering Māori and Pasifika into their own homes. MHO brings financial literacy workshops to local communities, maraes, churches and community halls around the South Island/Te Waipounamu.

Purpose/Kaupapa
The StatsNZ report "Housing Aotearoa: 2020 (Updated 2021)" and the graph below shows Māori and Pasifika were less likely to own their own homes and were more likely to live in public housing.
It was the former Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae who once said: "Every Kiwi deserves their own tūrangawaewae - their own place to stand tall!" and that is the inspiration Moana Home Ownership draws upon.
